Instead of pleasant meeting, you might end up behind the bars. Local religious police attempts to keep men and women apart as far as possible. Single men used to pick up with women while walking their pets. Authorities reacted by an absurd prohibition of dogs, cats and other domestic animals as well as walking them in public places. In case that police catches someone in there with for example a poodle, they will attach the animal without a favour. The owner will have to go and sign a statement, that he will not repeat his violation anymore. Saudi police inducted such prohibition because of increased amount of cases, where men used dogs and cats to be impertinent to women and bothered even their families. According to religious protectors they were breaking the moral policies of behaviour in the public. |
